Tip #1: Start with Rubbing Alcohol

Before trying any other methods to remove a crayon stain, start with rubbing alcohol. Pour a few drops onto a clean cloth and gently rub the stained area in a small circular motion. It is important to be careful not to scrub too hard as it may damage the fabric. If after a few attempts the stain isn’t lifting, move on to the next tip.

Tip #2: Use a Stain Remover

If rubbing alcohol proves unsuccessful, try using a commercial stain remover. Follow the directions on package and make sure to test it on a small area of the fabric to ensure that it won’t cause further damage. Be sure to choose a product specifically designed for delicate fabrics like curtains and drapery.

Tip #3: Wash with Baking Soda

If all else fails, try washing affected area with baking soda. Mix a generous amount of baking soda and warm water together and apply to the stained area. Gently rub the fabric and allow mixture to sit on the stain for a few minutes. Rinse with cold water before drying.

Tip #4: Use a Hairdryer

For crayon marks that are especially difficult to remove, use a hairdryer to help loosen up the wax. Turn the hairdryer on low and gently heat the stained area for a few seconds. The heat should help to loosen wax and allow it to lift more easily.

Tip #5: Consider Professional Cleaning

If the crayon stain is particularly stubborn and none of above methods work, consider taking your drapery to a professional cleaner. They will likely have access to commercial-grade products and equipment that can effectively remove the stain.
