Your first step is to scrape off any excess crayon that is still on the fabric. Use a blunt knife or spoon to lift off as much of wax as possible without damaging the material.
Once you've scraped off as much of crayon as possible, it's time to pre-treat the stain with an appropriate stain remover. Choose one specifically designed for removing crayon from fabrics, then follow the instructions to apply it before laundering.
After pre-treating the stained area, you'll need to launder item with the hottest water setting safe for the fabric. Use a detergent that is free of dyes and fragrances, then dry as usual.
If some of the stain remains after laundering, pre-treat and wash again until it is completely gone. This may take several attempts, but you'll eventually be able to get the spot clean.
Crayon stains on cotton piqué fabric don't have to be a permanent problem - with a bit of patience and the right cleaner, you can remove them without ruining your favorite clothes. Just remember to scrape off as much of the crayon as possible, pre-treat with the right product, and launder in hot water until the mark is gone.
You should always check the care label for specific washing instructions, but most cotton piqué items are safe to machine wash.
It's best to use a special stain remover designed for crayon stains. Regular detergents and household cleaners may not be strong enough to remove the mark.
