The first step in removing crayon stains from cotton chambray is to use a spoon or dull knife to scrape off as much of the crayon as possible. This will help reduce the amount of staining on the fabric, making it easier to treat and remove.
Gently sponge the stained area with some warm water, taking care to keep the fabric saturated but not overly wet. Use a clean, white cloth to do this, as colors can transfer to fabric if the cloth is not white.
Once the area is sponged, apply a small amount of detergent directly onto the stain and scrub gently with the cloth. This will help break up the crayon and make it easier to remove. Rinse with more warm water to remove the detergent and any remaining crayon.
If the stain is still visible after the first treatment, repeat steps 2-3 until it is completely removed.
Finally, lay the fabric flat in a warm, sunny spot to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer until the stain is completely gone, as heat can set the stain and make it much harder to remove.
