What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Liquid dishwashing soap
  • Bucket of warm water
  • Old rags
  • Heavy duty laundry detergent
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Oxygen bleaching powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. As soon as possible after spotting the stain, use an old rag to dab wet spots with white vinegar. This will prevent the stain from setting into the fabric.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap and one teaspoon of white vinegar into a bucket of warm water. Dip a cloth into the mixture and use it to scrub the stained area in a circular motion. Rinse off the cleaning solution with clean water.
  3. If any stains remain, create a mixture of a cup of heavy duty laundry detergent and one gallon of warm water. Dip a cloth into the mixture and rub it onto the stained area using a circular motion. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse off with clean water. If the stain is still not removed, consider using an oxygen bleach powder.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always test cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area first.
  • Do not use bleach or products containing chlorine as this may damage the fabric.
  • Be sure to read the fabric care label before cleaning.
