What You'll Need:

  • Absorbent paper towels
  • Cleaning product such as liquid dish detergent, white vinegar, or a laundry stain remover
  • Toothbrush
  • Cold water

Step 1: Blot the Stain

First, take some absorbent paper towels and lay them over the affected area. Use a dry cloth to gently blot at the stain; do not rub the fabric as this can cause stain to spread. If there is any excess crayon, use the blunt side of a butter knife to scrape it off. Once you’ve removed as much as you can, discard the towels.

Step 2: Apply Cleaning Product

Next, take a small amount of whichever cleaning product you’ve chosen (liquid dish detergent, white vinegar, or laundry stain remover) and apply it directly to the stain. Gently rub the product into fabric, using a toothbrush if necessary.

Step 3: Rinse the Stain With Cold Water

Rinse off the stain with cold water, using a clean, damp cloth. Do not use hot water, as this can set stain into the fabric. Continue to rinse and blot stain until no traces of the cleaner remain.

Step 4: Let the Item Dry

Finally, let the item dry completely before wearing it or putting it away. Once the item is dry, inspect the area to ensure that all crayon has been removed.

Conclusion

Corduroy can be a challenge to clean, but with the right approach it doesn't have to be. With these simple steps, you can easily remove crayon stains from corduroy.
