Steps for Cleaning Crayon Stains from Coats:
- Check label to make sure the fabric is machine washable.
- Place several paper towels between the coat and the back of the stain so it won’t transfer to other side.
- Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch liberally over the stain and rub it in with a damp soft cloth.
- Lift the powder and paper towels off and check stained area. The color should be lighter.
- If the stain remains, apply a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to the affected area and work into the material with a toothbrush.
- Rinse the area with hot water and a damp cloth.
- For best results, machine wash the coat on the gentle cycle and lay flat to dry.
Quick Tips for Removing Crayon from Coats:
- Always test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous part of the coat before applying it to the stained area.
- If stain is still not removed, repeat the above steps, increasing strength of the cleaning solution.
- After you’ve finished cleaning, apply a fabric protector to the coat for extra protection.
