Using a dull knife or spoon, carefully scrape away the excess wax that is still on the surface of the ball gown. This will help minimize the stain.
Mix a solution of 1 part mild dish soap to 3 parts warm water. Using a soft cloth, sponge mixture onto the crayon stained area and let it sit for several minutes before rinsing. To avoid any colour removal, test a small, hidden area first.
If you don't have any success using the dish soap mixture, you may need to use a commercial stain remover. Select one appropriate for delicate fabrics like silk and satin, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Once the stain has been removed, launder the ball gown according to the care instructions. Use an extra rinse cycle to ensure all detergent residue is removed.
