What You'll Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Absorbent materials (old towels, rags, paper towels)

Removing Crayon Stains

The first step to removing crayon stains from your Abercrome & Fitch clothes is to scrape off as much of the excess wax as possible. You should use a blunt object such as a spoon or butter knife for this purpose. Be sure to take extra care not to further spread stain.

Once the excess wax has been removed, use a clean cloth and some dishwashing liquid to dab at the remaining stain. Work soap gently into the fabric using circular motions. After the stain has been worked out, rinse the area with cold water and repeat as necessary.

If the stain appears to be persistant, try soaking the fabric in a mixture of one tablespoon white vinegar and two cups of cold water. You should leave the garment to soak for 30 minutes, before rinsing with cold water.

Caring for Your Clothes

To prevent any further staining, it is important to take proper care of your clothes. Always read the care labels of your clothing and follow them carefully. For most fabrics, machine washing in cold water is recommended. For very delicate fabrics, hand washing is best.

It is also important to avoid ironing clothing that has crayon on it as the heat from iron can cause the wax to melt deeper into fabric. Wait until the stain has been completely removed before attempting to iron the garment.
