Removing Coffee and Tea Stains with Water

The first step is to rinse out the stained area with cold water. Be sure to act fast and use cold water as it can prevent the stain from setting in further into fabric. You may need to take a washcloth and rub the stain gently in a circular motion. If the stain is still there after rinsing, then there are more steps you can take.

Removing Coffee and Tea Stains with Detergent

For stubborn stains that won’t come off with just cold water, try using a detergent. Take some mild laundry detergent and mix it in a small bowl with cold water until it is a bit sudsy. Dip a washcloth into the mixture, being sure to wring out any excess detergent. Then, apply the detergent to stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it with cold water.

Removing Coffee and Tea Stains with Baking Soda

If the stain is still visible after the detergent treatment, adding baking soda to the mix might help. Make a paste by combining 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of warm water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it clean with cold water.

Removing Coffee and Tea Stains with Vinegar

Another trick is to use white vinegar. Make a 1:1 solution of water and vinegar and mix it together in a bowl. Soak stained area for 15 minutes, then give it a good rinse with cold water. This should successfully remove the stain.

Preventing Coffee and Tea Stains in Future

Once you've successfully removed the stains, be sure to take steps to prevent them in the future. Make sure to use coasters for any hot drinks and keep your cups away from fabrics that might be stained easily. When enjoying a hot beverage, take extra precaution and wear an apron or towel over clothes that you don't want stained.
