Umbrellas can be incredibly useful when it comes to protecting you from the elements. But they can also get stained with coffee, tea, and other liquids. To keep your umbrella looking as good as new, you'll want to take a few simple steps to ensure that it is properly cleaned.
First, prepare a solution of detergent and warm water. Mix two tablespoons of gentle detergent for every liter of water. Dip a soft-bristled brush into the mixture and use it to scrub the stained area. Rinse the bristles of the brush in the mixture occasionally to ensure that you are removing any build-up of dirt.
Once all of the stain has been removed, carefully rinse the area with clean water. Allow the fabric to air dry before closing the umbrella. This will help ensure that no dirt or debris is trapped beneath fabric.
For plastic umbrellas, mix together a solution of one part bleach and nine parts water. This should be enough to remove most stubborn stains. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the stained area with the solution. Once all of the stain has been removed, rinse the area with clean water.
Allow the plastic to air dry before closing umbrella. It's also important to note that the bleach solution should not be used on colored umbrellas, as it can strip away the color and leave noticeable marks.
By following these simple steps, you can keep your umbrella looking great for years to come.
