If coffee or tea stain is still fresh, blot the garment with a paper towel to remove as much excess liquid as possible. Do not scrub the fabric, as this may spread the stain. Once the excess liquid is removed, soak the stained area in a bowl with a mixture of white vinegar or club soda and cold water. This should help to break up the proteins in the stain, making it easier to remove. Let the garment soak for 20-30 minutes – this should be enough time for the vinegar or club soda to work its magic.
If the stain is still there after soaking, dip an old toothbrush or soft cloth into some mild liquid laundry detergent and gently rub the stained area. Make sure not to scrub too hard, as this could damage the fabric. Once you have given it a good scrub, rinse the garment with cold water and allow it to air-dry. If stain is still visible, repeat the process until it is gone.
