Step 1: Rinse the Stained Area Under Cold Water

The first step in cleaning coffee or tea stains from your socks is to rinse stained area with cold water. This will help to loosen and remove any debris in the stain. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the area to help remove the stain.

Step 2: Create a Stain-Removal Solution

Now that the stained area is rinsed off, it's time to create a solution to help get rid of the stain. Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid detergent in a bowl or bucket. Make sure you mix the ingredients together thoroughly, so they are combined.

Step 3: Soak the Sock

Once solution is created, soak sock in it for at least 30 minutes. This will help to break down the stain and make it easier to remove. After 30 minutes, take the sock out of the solution and rinse it off with cold water.

Step 4: Wash the Sock in the Washing Machine

Finally, it's time to wash the sock in the washing machine. Use your regular laundry detergent and a cold water cycle. To ensure the stain is completely removed, leave the sock in the washing machine for an extra rinse cycle before taking it out.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain is still visible after the first washing, repeat steps 2 - 4 until the stain is completely removed.
  • If you have a wool sock, hand wash it instead of putting it in washing machine.
  • Make sure not to use hot water, as this can cause the stain to set.
