Using a clean cloth, blot the stain gently with lukewarm water. Be sure not to rub the affected area as it can cause further damage to the fabric. Make sure to press down and knead the stained area until all the excess liquid has been removed.
Before proceeding to next step, test the fabric for colorfastness. To do this, mix a small amount of detergent in lukewarm water and lightly apply it to a portion of stained fabric. If the fabric discolors or there is any other change noticed, discontinue the cleaning process.
Mix a few drops of detergent in lukewarm water and apply it directly to the stained area. Gently rub solution into the fabric in a circular motion, making sure not to press too hard. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out.
Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add a small amount of detergent. Submerge fabric in the mixture and let it soak for a few hours. This will help to loosen up the stain and make it easier to remove.
Once fabric has been soaked, rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water. Then, hang the fabric to air dry. Do not wring the fabric or put it in the dryer as this can cause more damage to the fabric. Once fabric is completely dry, it should be back to looking like new!
