It's always best to address the stain as soon as possible, starting with cool or lukewarm water. Place the stain face down onto a thick towel and rinse the material until water runs clear. You can even use a gentle shower of cool water from a garden hose.
Once the stain has been rinsed, you can apply a few drops of detergent on area to remove any remaining residue. Rub the detergent into the fabric with your fingertips using circular motions. Then, let the detergent sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Create a paste using baking soda and warm water and apply directly to the stain. Then, using a soft brush, scrub the mixture into the fabric and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Finally, rinse the area thoroughly.
Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water and apply to stain with a cotton ball or cloth. Rinse with lukewarm water after a few minutes.
If the stain persists, try applying a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap directly onto the material and let sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse the area with cool water.
Place your raincoat in direct sunlight for a few hours. The UV rays of the sun can help to break down the stain and make it easier to remove.
If the stain won't budge, you can repeat steps 1-5 until the stain is fully removed. If all else fails, you may need to consult a professional cleaner.
