Coffee and tea stains can be some of the worst things to try and get out of clothing, especially when it’s a pullover that you wear frequently. Whether you spilled it yourself, or someone else did, there are easy ways to remove both coffee and tea stains from your favorite clothing without doing much damage to the fabric.

Removing Coffee Stains: When dealing with coffee stains, start by ensuring that as much liquid as possible is removed from the fabric. Use paper towels or a clean cloth, and press the material to remove the liquid. Do not rub or scrub the stain! Once you’ve removed as much liquid as possible, make a paste of equal parts water and baking soda, and spread over the stain, making sure it is well covered. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then gently remove the baking soda paste with a damp cloth. Rinse in cold water, and if the stain remains, repeat the process until it is gone.

Removing Tea Stains: For tea stains, process is similar. First, blot the stained area with a clean cloth to remove as much liquid as possible. Soak it in cold water for a few minutes, then create a paste using equal parts lemon juice and cream of tartar. Rub this over stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary. It is important to remember that with both coffee and tea, never use hot water, as this may cause the stain to set! Finally, machine wash the garment as normal.

With these simple tips, you should be able to easily remove coffee and tea stains from your pullover, and keep it looking great!
