If you find yourself in a fret trying to clean off a coffee or tea stain on your Oxford clothing, don’t panic! With the right technique and a few everyday supplies, you can get stains out of your oxford and restore it to its former glory.

Step 1: Blotting

To start, take a clean cloth and blot the stain as soon as you can. Blot the stain gently and never rub it as that can make the stain worse. Blotting helps to absorb moisture and prevent the stain from sinking deeper into fabric.

Step 2: Using Woolite and Water

In a bowl, mix equal parts Woolite and lukewarm water. Then dip the cloth into the mixture and gently blot the stain until it is removed.

Step 3: Rinse the Area

After blotting the stain, rinse with cold water. Make sure to use cold water; warm or hot water can set the stain permanently.

Step 4: Let It Air Dry

Once you’ve taken care of the stain, let it air dry completely and place some paper towels underneath it to absorb any excess moisture.

Step 5: Iron the Area

Once the area is completely dry, give the fabric a light steam iron. This will help remove any remaining odor and refreshen the fabric.

Additional Tips

  • Always test the Woolite mixture on a small, inconspicuous area before using on the stain.
  • Make sure you use cold water or cool temperature settings when washing or rinsing. Hot water can cause the stain to set permanently.
  • If the stain remains after the above steps, repeat the process until it is removed.
