What You'll Need:
- Warm water
- Gentle detergent (dishwashing liquid is best)
- White vinegar
- White cloth
- Soft brush (a toothbrush works great)
Steps to Follow:
- As soon as possible, take a white cloth and dab stain to try and absorb as much liquid as possible, without rubbing it into fabric.
- Mix together warm water and a small amount of gentle detergent in a bowl. Get the cloth damp and proceed with the next step. If there is also a grease component to stain, avoid using hot water, as this will make grease worse.
- Blot the stained area with the damp cloth.
- Fill a spray bottle with lukewarm water and add a few tablespoons of white vinegar. Spray the stained area with the mixture and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Using a soft brush, lightly scrub stained area in a circular motion. Don't press too hard on the fabric, as this could damage it.
- Rinse off the mixture with a damp cloth and lukewarm water.
- To make sure you don't cause more harm than good, put your hand inside the fabric and feel if the temperature of the water is tolerable for fabric. If not, use cold water instead.
- When all traces of the stain are gone, gently press the spot with a dry white cloth and let it air out. Don't iron the area until it's completely dry.
