stain If you’ve ever had the misfortune of spilling your morning cup of joe or afternoon tea on your favorite pair of Levis, don’t worry—there’s a solution. Removing coffee and tea stains from denim is possible, and doesn’t take much effort. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Treat the Spot Immediately

The sooner you act, the better. Blot stain with a paper towel or cloth to remove any excess liquid. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the area, as this can spread the stain.

Step 2: Rinse with Cold Water

Using cold water, rinse spot under running water until it no longer appears discolored. Do not use hot water, as the heat will set the stain.

Step 3: Apply a Stain Remover

Liberally apply a product containing enzymes—such as laundry detergent, dish soap, or a specialized stain remover—to the stain. Allow it to sit for several minutes before laundering the item.

Step 4: Launder as Usual

Wash the jeans in cold water in the washing machine, using a mild, bleach-free detergent. Hang to dry after laundering to preserve color of the fabric.

Step 5: Repeat as Needed

If stain has not been completely removed after the first attempt, repeat these steps until you get the desired results. For tough, ground-in stains, consider taking your jeans to a professional cleaner.
