Removing Coffee & Tea Stains from Leather

  1. Dry the leather with a cloth. Before applying any liquid cleaning solution, begin by drying the stained area of leather with a clean, dry cloth. This will ensure that there’s no moisture present and will also help to absorb some of the stain.
  2. Create a cleaning solution with gentle soap. Prepare a mild cleaning solution of warm water and gentle soap, such as dish soap or hand soap. Avoid harsh soaps and detergents that might damage the leather.
  3. Dip a clean cloth in the solution. Soak a clean, white cloth in the cleaning solution. If you have one, use a microfiber cloth.
  4. Gently rub the cloth over the stain. Take the moistened cloth and begin scrubbing over the stained area. Don't scrub too hard, as it may cause damage to leather. Apply gentle pressure, as if you were trying to pick up the stain rather than using a vigorous rubbing motion.
  5. Wipe away any excess solution. Once the stain has been removed, wipe away any excess cleaning solution with a dry cloth. Allow the leather to air-dry.

Leather Stain Prevention

To protect your leather from future staining, use a leather conditioner to moisturize the leather and protect it from dirt and stains. Make sure the leather is dry before conditioning. Applying a thin coat of conditioner also helps maintain the leather and keep it looking new for years to come.
