Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain with Detergent

The first step is to apply a bit of laundry detergent directly onto stain. This helps break down the stain on a molecular level, making it easier to remove it later. It's best to use an enzyme-based detergent for this. Let it sit on the jumper for at least five minutes.

Step 2: Soak the Jumper in Hot Water

Once you've let detergent sit, fill up a large sink or bowl with hot water and submerge the jumper in it. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Wash the Jumper in the Washing Machine

After you're done soaking the jumper, put it in the washing machine with a mild detergent. Select the correct cycle for type of fabric your jumper is made out of. Make sure to select the warmest temperature that's safe for your fabric. Once cycle is complete, hang the jumper to dry.

Step 4: Repeat If Necessary

If the stain isn't completely gone after washing the jumper, repeat steps 1-3 until stain is removed. If you're still having difficulty removing it, you may want to consult a professional dry cleaner, who may have more powerful tools to get rid of stubborn stains.
