Begin by soaking the stain in a solution of detergent and cold water. This will start to break down the molecules that make up the stain, making it easier to remove. Be sure to allow the stained area to soak for several minutes to ensure that the cleaning solution has time to take effect.
If the stain is proving to be stubborn and the detergent solution has not been effective, you can try using a Borax solution to further break down molecules that make up the stain. Simply mix one teaspoon of Borax with one cup of cold water, and apply to the stained area for a few minutes.
If the stain persists, then you can try a mixture of vinegar and baking soda. This cleaning combination can help to dissolve molecules that create the stain. Mix two tablespoons of white vinegar with one tablespoon of baking soda and apply to stained area. Allow the mixture to soak for at least 15 minutes before washing the jacket as normal.
As a final measure, you can purchase a specialised stain remover to tackle stain. Make sure to read the instructions carefully before application as the product may need to be diluted with water before use. Once the product has been applied to the stain, allow it to take effect for around 15 minutes before washing the clothing.
Cleaning coffee and tea stains from jackets doesn't have to be a hassle. With the right combination of ingredients and a bit of patience, you can get your favourite garment looking as good as new.
