Stains from brewed coffee and tea can be tricky – not only do they show up as quickly as you can say "oops!", but they can also be difficult to remove if not treated quickly enough. Luckily, with a few proven methods, you can get these pesky stains out of your J Jill clothes in no time. Here's what to do:
If you notice the stain right away, grab a clean cloth or paper towel and start blotting the area. Be careful not to rub too vigorously, as this can push the stain further into fabric. By removing as much of the liquid as possible, you can reduce chance of staining the affected garment.
Next, use a liquid detergent to pretreat the stained area. Rub a small amount of detergent directly onto the mark in a circular motion. Allow the detergent to sit on the fabric for at least 5 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Using hot water, wash the garment according to the instructions on the care label. It's important to avoid using harsh detergents or bleach, as this can cause the stain to set even further. Once the cycle is complete, check to make sure the stain is gone – if not, repeat the entire process until the marking is no longer visible.
Once the cycle is complete, hang garment to dry. Never put a garment in dryer if it still has a stain, as this will cause the stain to set and become even more difficult to remove.
Accidents happen, but luckily you don't have to live with that unwanted tea or coffee stain on your J Jill piece. Follow steps above to make sure you have your garment back in pristine condition in no time!
