When you’re out and about with your J.Crew clothing, it’s easy to accidentally spill your morning beverage on your shirt or pants. While coffee and tea may seem like tough stains to get rid of, they don’t have to be. These steps explain how to tackle these common stains and keep your J.Crew pieces looking their best.
As soon as you notice the stain, remove the garment and start blotting spot with a paper towel or cloth. This will help soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this could spread it further. Once you’ve blotted spot, leave garment to air dry.
To make the cleaning solution, mix one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent with one cup of cool water. You don’t want water to be too hot, as this could further set the stain into the fabric.
Next, dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and dab the stained area. Work from the outside of the stain towards center to prevent it from spreading. Let solution sit for 5-10 minutes before continuing to the next step.
After the cleaning solution has had time to work, rinse the garment with cool water. Be sure to use a separate cloth for this step to avoid spreading the stain. After rinsing, set the garment aside to air dry.
If the stain is still present after these steps, repeat them until it is gone. Depending on the severity of the stain, you may need to use a heavier-duty cleaning solution. Before doing so, make sure the product is safe for the particular type of fabric you’re trying to clean.
By following these simple steps, you can easily remove coffee and tea stains from your J.Crew garments without damaging the fabric. With a few minutes of your time, you can keep your favorite pieces looking great.
