The first step to getting rid of a coffee or tea stain on your Hermes scarf or bag is to gently remove any excess liquid. Start by blotting the stain with a clean white cloth, paper towel, or cotton swab. Be sure to avoid scrubbing or rubbing the stain, as this could cause it to spread or damage the fabric.
Once you’ve removed the excess liquid, you can begin pre-treating the stain. The best solution for pre-treating coffee or tea stains is a mixture of warm water and mild soap. Dip a washcloth into the soapy water and gently dab at the stain until it has been removed. If necessary, you can use a toothbrush to help work the soap into fabric.
Once you’ve pre-treated the stain, it’s time to rinse the fabric. Fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of mild detergent. Place the stained area of the Hermes item into water and let it soak for 10 minutes. After soaking time has elapsed, rinse the fabric with cold water until all of the soap is gone.
After rinsing fabric, carefully squeeze out the excess water. Avoid wringing the fabric, as this may cause damage. Place the item on a towel and gently pat it dry. Allow the fabric to air dry or use a dryer on a low setting.
Cleaning coffee and tea stains on your Hermes scarves and bags can be a challenge, but with the right technique it doesn't have to be! By following these four steps, you can ensure that your Hermes items will stay looking good and last you for years to come.
