Gingham is a classic pattern that looks great in many settings, but when that gingham becomes stained with tea or coffee, it can be tricky to know what to do. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to clean those pesky tea and coffee stains from gingham fabric.

What You’ll Need

  • Borax
  • Cold water
  • Toilet brush

Instructions

  1. Mix one teaspoon of Borax with two cups of cold water until the Borax is dissolved.
  2. Use a toilet brush to scrub affected area with the Borax/water mixture.
  3. Rinse with cold water and let the gingham dry completely.

This easy cleaning trick should help to remove tea and coffee stains from gingham. For stubborn stains, repeat the process as necessary.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you don’t have Borax, you can also try white vinegar.
  • For delicate, light-colored fabrics, be sure to test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area before using it on the entire garment.
  • Letting the gingham air-dry is best; if you must use a dryer, use the lowest setting.
