Mix laundry detergent with water in a bowl until it forms a paste. Scrub the stained area with the paste using a small brush. Ensure that the paste does not spread to other parts of the lace. Rinse area with plenty of cold water.
Fill a bowl with cold water and add white vinegar until it is saturated. Place the stained portion of lace in the bowl and let it soak for several hours. This will help to further break down the stain.
Run the lace through the washing machine on the delicate cycle. Add oxygen-based bleach to the detergent mix to help remove any remaining stains. Once the cycle is complete, rinse the lace with plenty of cold water and hang up to air dry.
Using the steps above, you should now have clean duchesse lace free of any coffee and tea stains. As long as you handle the delicate fabric with care, process should go smoothly and you should be able to preserve your beloved lace.
