Start by pre-treating the stain with a mild and natural solution such as white vinegar or baking soda. Allow the pre-treatment to sit for a couple of minutes before you begin to scrub. Once you’re ready to start scrubbing, use a clean damp cloth to gently rub back and forth, being careful not to spread the stain.
If your cotton twill garment is machine washable, continue by putting it in washing machine with a small scoop of enzyme-based laundry detergent. Make sure to set the temperature of the water to cold. If the stain persists after the first cycle, repeat the process until the stain is gone.
For items that are not machine washable, you will need to use a gentler approach. Create a mixture of equal parts dish soap and hydrogen peroxide, then use a damp cloth to dab the mixture onto the stain. Allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes before using a clean rag to wipe away the stain.
Finally, if all else fails, take your garment to a dry cleaner. The cleaning specialists will have the right equipment and expertise to tackle even most stubborn stains.
