Step 1: Blot Stain

To start removing the stain, you'll need to blot it with a damp cloth. This will help lift the stain and keep it from spreading. Use a damp paper towel or white cloth to gently press and rub the stained area.

Step 2: Make a Paste

Next, you'll need to make a paste from baking soda and water. For a light stain, mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 teaspoon of water. Increase amount of baking soda and water for larger or darker stains. The paste needs to be thick enough that it won't spread too much when applied.

Step 3: Apply the Paste

Once you've made the paste, apply it directly to the stained area. Make sure to cover the entire stain. If possible, let it sit for 5-10 minutes to give the paste time to work its magic.

Step 4: Rinse the Area

After allowing the paste to sit for a few minutes, take a damp cloth and rinse the area. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all of the baking soda.

Step 5: Machine or Hand Wash

Finally, launder article of clothing according to the care instructions. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process until it's completely gone. Don't forget to let clothing air dry after washing.

Voila!

You did it! With just a few simple steps, you can easily remove coffee and tea stains from your cotton clothing.
