Coffee and tea stains can be difficult to remove, depending on the fabric of your coat's material. Before you start scrubbing, make sure to check the tag attached to your coat or jacket's sleeve. It'll tell you what kind of fabric it is and what kind of cleaning agents will work best for it. Some materials, such as rayon, may require special care.
As soon as you notice a coffee or tea stain, act fast! The sooner you start stain removal process, the more likely it'll be a success. Remove any excess liquid that hasn't been absorbed into the fabric yet, using a paper towel or napkin.
Mix some mild detergent with cold water, and use a soft cloth or sponge to scrub at the stain. Make sure to work gently—fraying or damaging fibers of your coat fabric can make the stain worse. Once you're done scrubbing, rinse away loose debris and detergent with cool water. If any hint of the stain remains, repeat the process until it's completely gone.
If the stain still won't go away after scrubbing, there are special cleaning products made specifically for fabrics. Use a gentle product, and make sure to read the label carefully. Test a small, inconspicuous area of your coat first to make sure the product won't cause any discoloration or damage. After using a cleaning product, make sure to rinse away all of the residue.
Once you're sure the stain is gone, leave your coat to air dry outside. Avoid hanging up your coat in direct sunlight, as this can lead to fading, discoloration, and other damage. Let it dry naturally, and you're good to go!
