Supplies You Will Need

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Sponge or cloth
  • A bucket of warm water

Steps to Clean the Stain

  1. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts warm water in a bucket.
  2. Soak the stained cardigan in the mixture for around 10-15 minutes.
  3. Take the cardigan out from the mixture and rub a small amount of baking soda on the stained area.
  4. Using a damp sponge, gently scrub the stained area.
  5. Mix one part liquid laundry detergent with two parts warm water in a bucket.
  6. Submerge the cardigan in the mixture and let it soak for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Gently dab the stained area with a clean cloth soaked in the detergent mixture.
  8. Soak cardigan in a bucket of cold water for 15-20 minutes to remove any excess residue.
  9. Gently wring out the cardigan and hang it up to dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always use cold water to rinse the cardigan.
  • You can also use a mixture of ¼ cup of ammonia and 2 cups of water to pre-treat the stain before washing it.
  • Do not put the cardigan in the dryer as it may set the stain.
  • If the stain persists, repeat the steps multiple times.
