The first step to getting that stubborn stain out is to soak the area in cold water for at least 15 minutes. The longer you can keep stain submerged in cold water, the better chance you have of removing the stain completely. Make sure you don’t let the dress dry while still stained, as this may set in the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
Once you have soaked the stain for a sufficient amount of time, you want to apply some soap to the stained area. Not just any soap though – make sure it’s a heavy-duty detergent that is made to tackle tough stains. Rub the soap in with a soft brush or a clean rag to help break down the stain before you attempt to wash the dress.
After rubbing the soap into the stained area, you are ready to go ahead and throw dress into the washing machine. Depending on stain, you may want to use a delicate cycle on a low temperature and add some non-chlorine bleach to help lift the stain. If your dress is a bit more delicate than that, it is best to hand wash and follow that same procedure.
If you don’t see stain coming out after washing it once, you can try repeating the previous steps until stain is removed. Sometimes stains can be stubborn and require a few washes to get the job done, so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t come out right away.
Following these steps should help you get those pesky coffee and tea stains out of your aline dress. Good luck!
