The first step in removing any type of stain is to blot the area with a paper towel. This helps to remove any excess chocolate that may have spilled onto your tunic. Be sure to blot gently so as not to spread the stain.
After blotting the area, apply some liquid detergent directly on stain. Use a soft cloth or brush to work the detergent into the fabric, working from outer edge of the stain towards the center. Rinse the area with cool water after you’re done.
If stain is still present, mix one part white vinegar with two parts baking soda. Apply the mixture to stained area and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it off.
If the stain is still there, pre-treat it with a laundry detergent. Apply a small amount of detergent and rub it into the fabric using a soft brush. Let it sit for 15 minutes before washing according to the care tag instructions.
For tougher stains, you can soak the fabric in a concoction of one part ammonia, one part hydrogen peroxide, and two parts cold water. Let the fabric soak for 15 minutes before rinsing it off and washing it as usual.
There are also specialized stain removers available in stores that are specifically designed to remove chocolate stains. Follow instructions on package closely.
If you’re still struggling to get the stain out, don’t stress. Take your tunic to a dry cleaner and they should be able to get the stain out for you.
