Chocolate is delicious, but it can be a nightmare to clean up. Chocolate stains are some of the most difficult to get out, and they can be especially hard on delicate fabrics like a trench coat. If you have an undesired chocolate stain that needs to be removed from your coat, don't despair – there are several tricks you can try.

Step 1 – Scrape Away Excess Chocolate

The first step to cleaning a chocolate stain is to scrape away any excess that is still on the surface of the trench coat. Use a spoon or butter knife to carefully scoop away the chocolate from the fabric. Be careful not to rub the stained area, as this can cause stain to spread.

Step 2 – Pre-Treat The Stain

Once you've scraped away excess chocolate, next step is to pre-treat the stain. You'll want to do this before throwing the coat in washer, as pre-treating the stain will help to break it down so it's easier to remove during the wash. A good pre-treating solution can be made with two parts warm water and one part dish soap. Apply this solution to stained area with a cloth and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

Step 3 – Wash The Coat In The Machine

After pre-treating the stain, the final step is to put the coat in the washing machine. Set the machine on a delicate cycle with cold water and a gentle detergent. Once the cycle is finished, check the coat for any remaining chocolate stains and repeat the pre-treatment and washing process if needed.
