The first step is to act quickly. Chocolate is an oil-based stain, so faster you can address it, the better chance you have of getting it out. Dab – don't rub – at the stain with a wet cloth, as this will help keep it from spreading.
The next step is to create an OxiClean solution by mixing 1 tablespoon of powdered OxyClean with 2 cups of warm water. Dip the stained area into the solution and let it sit for a few minutes. Afterwards, rinse the area with cool water.
If you don't have OxiClean, you can use a simple paste made from baking soda and water. Mix one part baking soda to two parts warm water to create a paste, then apply the paste directly to the stained area. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water.
Once the stain has been treated, you can either handwash the shirt in sink or put it in washing machine. Before placing it in the machine, make sure to check care label; avoid using hot water or bleach on colored shirts or anything made from natural fabrics like cotton or wool.
Then, add a small amount of detergent. If the stain persists, add a bit of white vinegar to the wash cycle. This will help remove any remaining traces of chocolate.
Once you've washed the shirt, lay it flat to dry. Don't put it in the dryer, as high heat can set the stain.
With these steps, you should be able to successfully remove those pesky chocolate stains from your clothes!
