Chocolate can be a sticky, stubborn stain to remove from fabrics — especially porous materials like felt, wool, and cotton. Before you throw out your stained slippers, try one of these methods for getting the chocolate out:
If your slippers are made from a fabric like wool, start by rubbing a liquid detergent over the chocolate stain. Rub it in gently to work the detergent into the fibers without causing additional damage. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to dissolve chocolate, then blot area with a wet cloth or sponge. Don't scrub – just blot the area to prevent further damage.
For tougher stains, you can try pretreating the area with a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Stir until baking soda is dissolved, then dab mixture onto the stain using a soft cloth. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
If the stain still isn't budging, use a specialty stain remover to help break down the chocolate. Spray the product directly onto the stain, let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then use a soapy wet cloth to rub away the stain. Rinse area with cold water and let it air-dry.
If all else fails, try using an all-purpose cleaner to remove the chocolate stain. Spray the affected area and let it sit for several minutes before blotting the area dry with a cloth. Repeat as necessary until the stain is gone.
By following these tips, you should be able to get those chocolate stains out of your slippers so you can look and feel as good as new!
