As soon as you notice a chocolate stain, act quickly. Scrape away as much of the excess chocolate as you can with a dull knife or spoon. Don’t scrape too hard or use sharp tools, as this could damage the fabric of the skirt.
Fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of liquid laundry detergent. Submerge the stained area of the skirt in the soapy water and let it soak for around 30 minutes.
Take the skirt out of the water and lightly rub the stain with a few drops of dishwashing detergent. Use a cloth or a soft-bristled brush for the best results. Gently work the detergent into the fabric and then rinse the area off.
After rinsing off the detergent, use a clean, white cloth to blot the stain. Make sure that you don’t rub the fabric, as this could damage or spread the stain. Keep replacing the cloth until no more color is absorbed.
Finally, machine wash the skirt as you usually would. Check the skirt before putting it in dryer—if there’s still a stain present, repeat Steps 2-4. Once you’re satisfied that the stain has been removed, let the skirt air-dry or tumble-dry on a low heat setting.
