Before you start cleaning, it is important to collect all the supplies you will need. You will need a soft cloth, lukewarm water, a mild laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid, white vinegar, and a clean dry towel. Once you have all your supplies, you are ready to start.
Using the soft cloth, begin to gently blot the area of the stain to remove as much of the excess material as possible. Do not rub the fabric as this can cause damage to the delicate silk fibers. Keep blotting until you can’t get anymore of the chocolate off.
Mix a gentle detergent or dishwashing liquid with lukewarm water in a bowl or bucket and stir to create a cleaning solution. Dip the soft cloth in mixture and then squeeze out any excess liquid.
Gently rub the area of the stain with the damp cloth, working the cleaning solution into the fabric. Be sure to use a circular motion to ensure that you reach all areas of the stain.
Once you have finished cleaning the stain, rinse area with lukewarm water to remove any residual soap. Use a clean towel to blot the area and remove any remaining moisture.
To disinfect area, mix one part white vinegar with one part water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the mixture and then gently rub the area of stain. Rinse again with lukewarm water and blot dry with a clean towel.
Finally, let the area air dry completely before touching or wearing the garment. Keep in mind that drying times may vary depending on the type of fabric.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully remove chocolate stains from your silk tussah fabric. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions provided by fabric manufacturer, as some fabrics may be more delicate than others.
