The first step in cleaning any spill or stain is blotting the area gently. Make sure to not spread the stain further by rubbing or brushing it. Use a dry absorbent cloth, paper towel, or tissue to gently blot up as much of the chocolate as possible.
If the chocolate is semi-solid or dry, use a spot cleaning product designed for silks. If it is liquid, mix a solution of lukewarm water, a small amount of gentle dish soap, and ammonia (equal amounts of each). Dip a soft cloth or sponge in the solution, wringing it out almost completely, and rub it over the stained area in a circular motion. Don’t scrub too hard or you may damage the fabric. Repeat this process until all of the stain is gone.
Once the stain is removed, rinse the area with cold water. Squeeze rinse cloth often to remove the dirt, and work your way outward from center of the stain. Rinse again with cold water and repeat until cloth comes away clean.
Once you have rinsed the area, allow it to air dry out of direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause fading and damage the fabric, so be sure to hang the garment in a cool, dry place.
