Gather Supplies

To remove a chocolate stain from silk faille, you’ll need:

  • Dish soap
  • Cold water
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Cornstarch
  • Clean cloth
  • Hair dryer

Step 1: Blot Excess Chocolate

Grab your clean cloth and gently blot excess chocolate. Avoid rubbing the chocolate into the fabric, as this can cause it to further penetrate into the fabric fibers.

Step 2: Create a Soap Mixture

Mix one tablespoon of dish soap with two cups of cold water in a bowl. Then, dip the cloth into the mixture and squeeze the excess liquid. You want cloth to be damp, not soaked.

Step 3: Treat the Stain

Gently dab the stain with the damp cloth. While dabbing, focus on saturating the stained area. Do not scrub or rub the fabric—this will cause stain to set in further.

Step 4: Rinse the Stain

Rinse out the soapy mixture with cold water. Once the soap has been removed, check to see if the stain is still present. If it remains, repeat steps 2-4.

Step 5: Apply Hydrogen Peroxide

If stain persists, it may require a stronger solution. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts cold water. Using a clean cloth, dab the stain with the mixture.

Step 6: Apply Vinegar and Cornstarch

If the hydrogen peroxide does not work, mix one teaspoon of white vinegar with one teaspoon of cornstarch to create a paste. Spread the paste onto the stained area and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning, rinse out the paste with cold water.

Step 7: Blow-Dry the Fabric

Once the stain has been removed, blow dry the fabric with a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting. This will ensure that any leftover moisture is quickly evaporated. Do not leave the fabric wet or the stain may set in.
