As soon as you discover chocolate stain, use a dampened cloth or paper towel and carefully blot the area to soak up as much of the chocolate as possible. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing stain, as this can drive the chocolate further into the fabric and create a bigger mess.
Gently apply a small amount of detergent directly onto the stained area. Use a soft brush or damp cloth to work detergent into the fabric and make sure that it is spread evenly, taking care not to rub it in too harshly.
Next, fill a sink or bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of detergent. Place the stained portion of the silk douppioni into the soapy water and let it soak for approximately 15 minutes.
Once the fabric has been soaked, rinse it off with cold water and make sure to rinse off all of the soap. Then, gently squeeze out any excess water. Do not wring or twist the fabric as this can damage the delicate material.
After rinsing the fabric, it's time to let it air dry. Lay silk douppioni flat on a towel or drying rack and let it sit until completely dry. Avoid placing the garment in direct sunlight as the sun can cause fading or discoloration of the fabric.
Once the fabric is completely dry, inspect the area to make sure that the stain has been fully removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps above until it has been successfully eliminated. Once you have achieved the desired results, press the garment with an iron on a low heat setting to restore its original shape and appearance.
