Supplies You'll Need

  • Supple leather cleaner
  • Soft cloths
  • Water and soap solution
  • Sponge and brush
  • Leather conditioner

Step 1: Blotting

Start by gently blotting the stain with a soft cloth. Avoid rubbing the stain as this will spread it around, making the stain worse.

Step 2: Cleaning

Once you've blotted as much of the mess up as possible, you can move onto cleaning. First, mix 1/4 teaspoon of dish soap and 1 quart of warm water together, then dip a sponge or a soft brush into the solution. Gently brush shearling with the spong and water solution, being careful not to scrub too hard. Once you've cleaned the area, use a clean wet cloth to remove any remaining soapy residue.

Step 3: Finishing Up

Once the stain is gone and the area is dry, apply a leather conditioner to protect the shearling and keep it looking good. This will also help if you ever have to deal with another chocolate stain on the same jacket.
