It's a universal truth that chocolate tastes great, but when it winds up on clothes like scrubs, it can become a bit of a nightmare to clean. Not to mention, the smears always seem to draw attention to themselves! Fortunately, you don't have to live with those chocolate stains forever. Here are a few simple steps you can take to get them out of your scrubs.
The number one thing to remember when it comes to cleaning chocolate stains is that time is of the essence. That's why you must act fast and begin treating the stain as soon as possible. If you wait too long, the stain will set in and it will be much more difficult to remove.
If you have access to it, pre-treating the stained area is the best way to go. Pre-treating solutions come in spray, foam and liquid versions, and they're designed to help break down stain before washing your clothes. Simply spray or apply the pre-treatment to stained area, then let sit in fabric for up to 15 minutes. Then, you can wash the garment as usual.
If you don't have pre-treatment, you can still remove chocolate stains by using laundry detergent. Start by rinsing off any excess chocolate with cold water right away, then apply a small amount of laundry detergent onto the stained area. Gently rub it in, then let sit for 10 minutes. Finally, rinse it off, and you'll be good to go.
Sometimes, a combination of vinegar and baking soda is enough to break down even the toughest chocolate stains. To use this method, simply mix equal parts vinegar and baking soda together to form a paste. Apply it directly to the stained area and scrub gently. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse off.
Once you've removed the chocolate stain, all that's left is to throw the garment in the wash. Make sure you set the water temperature according to care instructions of your clothes. Depending on the severity of stain, you may want to use a heavy-duty laundry detergent, or you can use a regular detergent if it's mild enough.
By following these easy steps, you'll be able to get those chocolate stains out of your scrubs in no time.
