Chocolate stains on scarves may seem like a disaster, but they don’t have to be. You can get rid of them easily with a few basic cleaning supplies and techniques.
To clean chocolate stains from your scarf, you’ll need the following:
First, blot the area around the chocolate stain with a paper towel or a cloth, to absorb any extra moisture. Then use a spoon or knife to scrape as much chocolate off of the fabric as possible. Don’t rub too hard, as this may spread the stain further.
After scraping off the excess chocolate, pre-treat area with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and warm water. Use a cloth or sponge to gently rub the mixture into the area. Rinse the fabric with cold water and then blot it with a dry cloth or paper towel.
Mix together a solution of laundry detergent and white vinegar, in a ratio of 1 part detergent to 5 parts vinegar. Apply the mixture to the stained area, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then rinse the stained area with cold water, and use a cloth or paper towel to blot area dry.
If stain still remains, apply shaving cream to the area. Let the shaving cream sit for five to ten minutes and then gently rub it into the fabric. Rinse the fabric with cold water, and then blot it with a dry cloth to remove the excess moisture.
Throw your scarf in the washing machine on cold, using a gentle detergent. Allow scarf to air-dry afterward, and hang it up to ensure there are no wrinkles.
With these steps, you should be able to get chocolate stains out of your scarves with ease. Just remember to work carefully and be patient, and your scarves will be good as new!
