Sticky, melted chocolate can be difficult to clean off of pet beds. The surface material may vary, and this will affect the cleaning process. The best way to clean chocolate stains off of pet beds is to first identify what material the bed itself is made of and then use the appropriate cleaning product.

Cleaning Chocolate from Microfiber & Suede Beds

If your pet bed is made of microfiber or suede, you will need to be careful not to damage material while you're cleaning. First, use a dry cloth to dab chocolate and attempt to pick it up. Be gentle, as too much pressure may cause the fabric to stretch or tear. If there is still residue left behind, use a mild detergent like dish soap. Make sure to dilute it with water and apply a light mist that covers the entire stained area.

Gently rub the soap into the stain, working in a circular motion. After a few minutes, you should be able to wipe it off with a damp cloth. Use another dry cloth afterwards to absorb any remaining moisture. Finally, use a blowdryer to heat area and help set any fibers of the fabric that may have been disturbed.

Cleaning Chocolate from Cotton & Polyester Beds

If your pet bed is made of cotton or polyester, you don't have to worry about damaging the fabric. Once the chocolate has been dabbed up with a dry cloth, you can use a solution of warm water and gentle laundry detergent. Soak area for 15-20 minutes and then scrub lightly with a soft bristled brush.

Afterwards, rinse the area with clean water and pat dry with a towel. You can use a blow dryer on a low setting if needed. Do not put the bed in dryer or heat could set the stain.

Conclusion

Chocolate stains don't have to be a permanent fixture on your pet bed. With the right cleaning process, you can easily remove these stains, whether your bed is made of microfiber, suede, cotton, or polyester. With regular maintenance and care, you will be able to keep your furry friends' bedding looking as good as new.
