Chocolate stains are usually caused by leaving chocolate on the ground for too long and letting it melt and become absorbed into the paving material or concrete. The trick to removing these stains is to act quickly and use correct cleaning products and methods.

The Cleaning Process

  • Begin by scraping up any loose chocolate using a spoon or your fingers.
  • Mix a solution of warm water and dishwashing soap in a bucket.
  • Dip a scrub brush into the mixture and scrub stained area with brush.
  • Rinse area with a garden hose.
  • If there are still stubborn stains remaining, pour a small amount of white vinegar onto the area.
  • Scrub the area lightly with the brush, then rinse again with the garden hose.
  • Repeat the process, if needed.

If all else fails and the stain is still visible, it may be a good idea to cover the area with an outdoor rug or mat until you can get it professionally cleaned.
