chocolate

It happens to the best of us – we drop something chocolate-y onto our much-loved muslin fabric and panic. Now, we all know that this dark, gooey mess isn’t easy to clean, but don’t fret! With this guide, you’ll be able to remove chocolate stains from muslin fabrics like a pro.

Step One: Blot the Stain

Whenever a food-related stain strikes, first step is to blot the area with a paper towel or rag. This will help to draw out some of the chocolate residue and make it easier to deal with.

Step Two: Add Detergent

Next, add a few drops of liquid detergent directly onto chocolate stain and leave for one to two minutes. Once this time has passed, you can start rubbing the detergent gently into the spot. This will help to break down the tougher parts of the stain and make it easier to get rid of.

Step Three: Rinse with Cold Water

To finish up, rinse off fabric with cold water, preferably using a spray bottle or other gentle tool. You may need to repeat the rinsing process a few times in order to ensure that detergent has been fully removed. Finally, hang the item up until it is completely dry.

FAQ

What should I do if the stain isn’t coming out?

If the stain isn’t coming out after following steps given here, you may wish to pre-treat the item before laundering by soaking it in white vinegar and cold water for around 30 minutes.

Can I use hot water?

No, hot water can cause chocolate stains to set more deeply into the fabric. It’s best to stick to cold water at all stages of cleaning process.
