Mohair is a luxurious fabric made from coats of angora goats, and it's used in everything from clothing to home furnishings. Unfortunately, chocolate can be particularly difficult to remove from mohair. Fortunately, there are a few easy techniques that can help you get rid of chocolate stains quickly and effectively.
The first step in removing chocolate from mohair is to scrape away any excess chocolate that is still on the surface of the fabric. Use the blunt edge of a butter knife or a metal spoon to scrape away the chocolate. Be careful not to press too hard, as this could damage the fabric.
Once you have scraped away the excess chocolate, you'll need to spray the stained area with liquid detergent. Use a clean cloth to blot stain, working the detergent into fabric. Let the detergent sit for five minutes before continuing to the next step.
Once detergent has had a chance to work its magic, rinse away the remaining residue by running cold water over the stained area. This should help remove any remaining bits of chocolate and will also help to dilute and lift the stain.
Finally, launder the fabric as normal. Be sure to use a gentle detergent and cold water so as not to cause any further damage to fabric. When the wash cycle is done, examine the fabric to make sure stain is gone before drying.
