Step 1: Identify the chocolate stain

You'll want to take a close look at the area of your Merino wool that has been stained with chocolate. Try to identify how much chocolate is there on fabric, and how far the stain has spread.

Step 2: Prepare a solution for cleaning

Mix together a tablespoon of laundry detergent and a cup of cold water in a bowl. Make sure that the detergent is not too harsh - something like baby shampoo or mild wool soap is ideal. If you don't have any detergent, you can also use a solution of equal parts vinegar and water.

Step 3: Blot the stain with a cloth

Using a clean white cloth, blot the area of the Merino wool that has been stained with chocolate. Start from the edges of the stain and work inward. Be gentle, as Merino wool is a very delicate fabric.

Step 4: Apply the solution to the stain

Dip a clean cloth into the solution you prepared earlier. Squeeze out any excess liquid before dabbing solution onto stain. You should aim to cover entire stain with solution. Be careful not to rub, as this could cause the stain to spread.

Step 5: Rinse and squeeze out excess moisture

Rinse the Merino wool with cold water until the chocolate stain has disappeared. Squeeze out any excess moisture, then lay it flat to dry.
