Chocolate stains are highly visible and often difficult to remove. In spite of this, there are a few tips and tricks you can use to get rid of those pesky chocolate stains from your kimono in no time.
Begin cleaning stain by blotting out as much of it as possible. Use a paper towel or napkin to absorb chocolate rather than wiping it. Doing so will help reduce the chances of spreading the stain further into the fabric.
Mix a solution of warm water and mild laundry detergent to begin cleaning the stain. You'll need approximately one teaspoon of detergent for every cup of water in the mixture.
Dip a soft cloth in the soapy mixture and gently rub the stained area of the fabric. Do not scrub or rub vigorously as this may damage the fabric. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the fabric with warm water and allow it to air dry.
If the stain persists after following the above steps, try applying white vinegar or ammonia directly onto the stain. Be sure to test these on a small area of the fabric before doing so to avoid any discoloration or damage to the fabric.
Once the stain has been completely removed, launder the kimono as usual. Be sure to read the care instructions before doing so.
Chocolate stains may be unsightly, but they don't have to be permanent. Armed with the right knowledge and supplies, you can easily remove chocolate stains from your kimono with minimal effort. Just follow the steps detailed above and voila – your kimono will look like new again!
