Different fabrics require different cleaning techniques, so it’s important to identify what type of fabric the hanbok is made of. Hanbok usually comes in silk, cotton, or linen. Once you know the type of fabric, you can use appropriate cleaning solution.
Before applying any cleaning solution, use a clean cloth to lightly dab the stain. This will help to remove some of the excess oil, which will make the stain easier to remove. Dab the stain until there is no more color transfer.
If the stain persists, create a cleaning solution with warm water and a mild detergent. Dip cloth in the mixture and lightly dab the stain again. Rinse the cloth frequently and keep dabbing until the stain is gone. Do not scrub the stain as this may damage the delicate fabric.
Before you start cleaning entire garment, it’s important to test the solution on an inconspicuous area. This will help ensure that the cleaning agent won’t damage the fabric.
Once the stain is removed, rinse the fabric with cold water and gently pat dry with a towel. Do not twist or wring the fabric as it may cause the fabric to stretch or tear.
Once the hanbok is dry, store it properly in a cool, dry place. This will help prevent mold and mildew from forming. It’s also important to keep hanbok away from direct sunlight as this could cause fading.
